Have You Or Anyone You Know Called Insurance Companies/doctor Office For An Emergency?

okay, I cognizant of the question sounds stupid, but I was just wondering when I call places for insurance authorizations, bones therapy/doctor offices, other related places from work - all the phone messages start off with," if this is an crisis hang up and dial 911."

are people really that addled, like uh-oh, my hand just got cut off, I better call the physical therapist? does 911 not effort in your town? I was just curious ,cause I find the message offensive.

I don't reckon it has anything to do with people being "stupid" and not realizing to call 911, I come up with it is a direct result of our overly litigious socieity that tries to "point to" someone when something goes wrong. I am sure it all stems from some moron who gets the incandescent idea to "test" his doctor to see if he/she will call back when he leaves a communiqu that he's having a heart attack. When the doctor doesn't call back right away and the child serves irreparable damage, the guy gets the bright idea to sue the doctor.

Do not give the impression offended, advocate for reform on personal injury cases...we've got too many lawyers in this woods anyway!

LOL i concede w/ you 100%

Gratefulness you for your observation. The very same message annoys the hell out of me. You have a difficult enough time getting to who you lack in these medical facilities and then you have to listen to all that BS. Frustrating!

It's like the half-baked stickers on everything. "coffee is HOT" uh duh I hope it's hot if I ordered it hot!

It's all admissible stuff they have to do. What is really good is when you do have an emergency and before you go to the emergency room your insurance co/ Medicaid wants you to call the treat line to determine if it is an emergency. I can imagine the calls. "Uh yes ma'am my at one's fingertips is cut off and the insurance co insists I call you first." Like anyone with half a brain can't figure out it's heyday to go the emergency room!

Well, why don't we draw up the public and tell them just how annoying they are to us, using all of these blatantly inessential methods of doing things that are in general totally inefficient and prodigality not only a lot of time but money.

Then again everyone is kept busy enough just trying to pay off their debts and keeping their families fed and housed, who has unceasingly a once to organize anything?

Here's hoping that we're not all screwed,

no. contrite. it is illegal to make a contract with a minor. So no company can issue you insurance at 17.

You will have to stop till you are 18, sorry.

Got to be 18 to mark a contract. Most companies can add you onto your parents insurance and you could pay them the difference.

No, unless you're an emancipated subsidiary.

Why Won't My Doctor Sign Off On A Prior Authorization To My Insurance Company For My Prescription?

I have an HMO and for some argument my doctor will not authorize to my insurance a prescription that I need. Is it the paperwork involved? Does it expenditure my doctor money to do this? Why son't he do it?

And trust me, I'm switching primary care physicians.

The doctor doesn't have the sage to make the insurance company pay. That would be like ME, authorizing YOU to pay my car payment. I don't have the say-so to do that, as much as I think the car payment needs to get paid.

A lot of times HMOs will have a catalogue raisonn of meds that the dr is allowed to prescribe from-their approved med list. They strongly hearten drs to prescribe from the authorized list and will many times not authorized a med that is not on the list. Have you tried discussing the purport with your dr as to why they won't write the prescription? Maybe he can suggest an alternate med that is on your HMO's approved catalogue

When you have ever, I would actually drive down to the doctor's office and explain, clearly, that you desideratum a detailed explanation of his refusal to sign or you will be finding another doctor.

If it's medication that you neediness, and he is refusing it, I would also report him to the medical board for refusal to treat.

The dope may not be on you HMO formulary list. (preferred drug list) If that is the case then even if your doctor prescribes a sedative your insurance company will not cover it. The only possible chance to get the drug covered is to have your doctor make out an appeal letter to your HMO

Giving Primary Care More Respect

It’s wonderful to see this question being discussed in the public forum. Primary care is treated like a shoddy stepsister among current medical students and residents, though studies have demonstrated that nobility quality primary care can be equally effective and less priceless than the current specialist driven model. But, like Dr. Chen asserts in the article, a few things have to coins for primary care physicians before it can be seen as attractive.

I often talk with my medical students about how they pay for their choice for residency. It’s interesting how little wealth has to do with the decision - primary care doctors are paid the least, to be unshakable, but students more frequently talk about how they don’t want to splash out their lives doing endless paperwork or spend at the same time begging insurance companies for patient authorizations. It’s a waste of their noteworthy investment of time and hard work, and frankly an insult to their finesse level and training.

What’s troubling to me as a primary caution doctor is that I don’t have a good answer to their questions. I do lots of unsuccessful paperwork that specialists don’t have to do. I spend (unpaid) epoch sweet-talking gum-smacking highschool grads working summer jobs for the insurance party who end up denying claims for my patients’ care. It’s maddening, and I can see how Way specialties look rosy by comparison.
