I'm a 20 year old college schoolboy under my parents' CIGNA health insurance.
I believe that I have ADHD, I have HORRIBLE memory, I have the worst sometimes concentrating, and always procrastinate. I've been getting good grades, but my procrastination has gotten a LOT worse over the gone year.
I called my insurance and they said that I'll only have to pay 20% of the "contract valuation" for psychologists.
So I thought it wouldn't be that much because I'm only interested in an ADHD test, I have altogether no mental/behavior health problem of any sorts.
the first psychologist I called said that the ADHD probe alone was going to range from 800-1600 dollars. but I'd have to go in for an initial consultation first which would be 400 dollars. (that is Nonsensical)
I called the local state university and they said they can do it for a flat fee of 300 dollars, but insurance wouldn't clothe any of it.
My university is 8 hours away, I wouldn't be able to go to school and get the check up on done.
Is there any way I could get this ADHD test performed for cheaper? and have insurance cover it?
PLEASE HELP! thanksgiving owing to you!
Actually I think I have ADD
not ADHD.
The examine and consultation would be at most $2000. 20% of that would be $400. But the price the psychologist quotes most expected would not be the contract rate which, depending on what part of the country and the doctor, could be anywhere from 30% to 90% of the $2000. What you'll necessary to do is get the AMA codes for the procedures from the psychologist and then call Cigna to see if they can give you an idea of the contracted rate for those codes with that doctor.

20% of $800 is $160 and 20% of the $400 is only $80. $80 and $160 is cheaper than the $300 from disciples. So, make sure you call CIGNA to do it right and make sure you're using one of their providers because the study will be done at the rate negotiated by CIGNA. And then you'd pay 20% of that. Also check to see if you have a deductible that needs to be met first.

Call the mob on the back of your card, see if that rate applies to diagnostic testing as well.

Can An Expecting Father Get Health Insurance?
May 12, 2009 by CK | Posted in Pregnancy
I applied for health insurance with Cigna and they called me today to say that my standing would increase by 25% because 2 months ago, my doctor prescirbed a very limited extent of xanax for occasional stress. I told the underwriter that I was just stressed because my fiancee was meaningful. She called me back 10 minutes later and told me they were denying coverage because my fiancee is enceinte. How is this legal? Does anyone have a similar story? Can someone recommend health insurance that will accept me if my fiancee is fraught?
My allay and I have found ourselves in a similar situation. After we had moved to Chicago and one of us was able to get a job that offered health insurance, we weighed all the options and pronounced to go for private health insurance for my husband, since adding him to my work insurance was going to cost WAY too much. Well, we were very surprised when we found out that my preserve could not get health insurance because I was pregnant. I have looked around to see if anyone could provide my husband with health insurance but have had NO luck. We are stuck in this plight now in which my husband will be left with no health insurance for months until the baby is born and covered under my health insurance drawing. I could add my husband to my work insurance but enrollment period won't happen again until 3 months after our cosset is born. During one of my conversations with one of the health care providers I was told that expectant fathers cannot be approved for health insurance and that it is something that is valid country wide. I have not found a reliable source to back the statement but I also have not found an insurance company that will cover my groom. Sorry to bring you bad news.
i cant judge devise of anyone who will give you health coverage because your an expecting father LOL...i cant understand why you would get dropped for that same reason, sounds like you should look into that further...

Whats Wrong With The American Health System?
Apr 10, 2008 by Jack | Posted in Other - General Health Care
i have had nothing but disability with cigna health insurance, first a couple of years ago i had a head on collision and was knocked out cold, someone called an ambulance and cigna said the ambulance defraud was not free because it wasn't pre-approved so i got a bill for $238 and then they jacked the rates up so high i couldn't spare to pay them and they canceled my insurance , because of that i couldn't get another company to insure me which was when i got cancer and didn't have a release $13,500, and was kicked out the hospital, know am cancer free living in England but wondering why did i have to forget because i couldn't pay a bill. why doesn't America have universal care, like all other western nation, i think it is the health care system itself that is truly sick.
please tell me your views and health love story's.
badger fan. i didn't have cancer when i applied for health care i was totally healthy.
and in England i didn't wait at all it was quicker than i have ever received in the unanimous states, and trust me it was alot better than the us, when i was young i believe pandemic care was bottom run like the soviet union and it would bring socilism but i was so diabolical.
We're clearly at the mercy of the insurance companies, which pick and choose which procedures they will cover. They'll look for any evasion they can find to deny coverage. I don't know why people continue to support this pasticcio system which leaves millions out in the cold. It's the best in the world for those who can afford to pay for it. I'm guessing it's because they're unsophisticated, healthy, and haven't had to deal with insurance companies.

Because it's an all reticent+insurance system, the market for health services charges what the market can bear and what the market can have a bearing on is a lot more than the poorest can pay.
The insurance companies are in the middle and serve to dissociate the customer that pays from the asylum that charges, so normal market pressures don't work and the prices go up and up.
The insurance companies sit in the waist and do their best to avoid paying out.
This is massively messed up and leads to the most costly and least accessible health care in western countries.

we have medicare which is fixed going under...next is some sort of universal care which will cost a fortune thru our tax system...more bull's-eye man money for uncle sam...oh well...

If you were in England when all this happened, I spectacle how long you'd have to wait for health care or would you rather pay through the nose but come back to the States because you distinguish you could "buy" the very best care here?
Yes, our health care system need a lot of adjustments from top to bottom. But, at the end, it is still currently punter than universal health care for the simple fact that competition does urge better health care. You were stuck with a less than reliable coverage for you the first time to all intents because you shopped for price over value (or you'd have had, at the very least, a discount for the ambulance) and it sounded like you've preordained up your fight. The second time you were caught with having cancer as a pre-exiting term. If you are the insurance company, how likely would you want to insure a whole bunch people who are deranged? Health insurace is for the healthy, not the sick. All business must know how to balance profit and passing or they'd be out of business.
