I was hit by a channel in a parking lot on the 11th. They did not give me their insurance information and have refused to since then. When filing an accident report at both the DMV & my city enforce they said they could not get me that information, and when I called my insurance they said that I (not them) needed to contact the persons insurance companions myself (as I only have the basic insurance as required by law). How can I find out their insurance info? Do I just have to take them to small claims court?
Try employment around various insurance companies and try to weasel it out of them. If you feel ballsy you can even use a pretext and profess to be them, in order to get a rep to divulge information.
Or, you can hire a private investigator to get that information for you. They should have access to your testify's DMV records, and depending on the state, they can find it that way.

Hillock your insurance company what happened and they will pursue the local authorities to get the person's information. Give them the authorize plate #.The authorities can provide and have to provide the insurance company with the info you are looking for. cloth luck.

The Themselves driving the Car that hit our car gave the officer HIS policy information. NOT the registered owners behaviour information. When I called the Insurance agency They told me They do not have that Car on ethier of ther policys and that Her *the Registered woman for the car) was canceled but there was never coverage for the car that hit ours. So We are left with Trying to find out Where if she is at all Insured at so we can get our car fixed. Is this possiable without trade her. I do not want to call them after all ifyou lie to the cops why would you tell a stranger the truth?
i'm not true what is the best way to answer this question, however, i did stay at a holiday inn express last incessantly!

You have to let someone know the police that the insurance information was not valid. They need to know so they can write a citation for an uninsured motorist.
On the whole, insurance follows the person, not the car. Like I am insured no matter what car I drive, even rental cars. If the driver does not have insurance, then you can go after the registered possessor because they let an uninsured motorist use their car.
But as I said, if the insurance information provided is false, this goes back to a police affair. Then once the police contact them, they may or may not get different info, but in the end you may wind up having to go to your own insurance if you were clever enough to have uninsured motorist coverage.

The himself made a mistake, albiet an honest one. Insurance companies insure vehicles, not drivers, to the inaccurate answer above. When you lend your car to someone, you lend them your insurance.
When you called the insurance company that wrote the programme you were given, they correctly said that they don't have that car on their files, because they don't: it wasn't that person's car.
This quite isn't an issue for the cops, but an issue for your insurance company. Simply call them and explain the condition: you were given insurance information that is invalid, and thus you do not have any recourse within your grasp. What should happen is that they will let you file an uninsured motorists be entitled to: this is the kind of insurance that covers you if the person who hits you doesn't have insurance, gives annulled information, or hits and runs.
The insurance company, under their powers of subrogation, will then attempt to subrogate, i.e. queue legal action in court to discover the owner of the vehicle and go after their insurance train for the damages. But that's not your problem: they'll do that without even involving you, though you may have to make a court appearance to state as to what happened.
But the police probably do not need to be involved. Your insurance company should be proficient to handle things for you.

Cop should be capable to run a dmv on the plate on the car, get you the owner and insurance policy number. If no, get a detective to do it for $50

My daughter was hit by another driver who will NOT give us his insurance information and I was wondering if there is an easier less costly way to find out the information then to stay on the Dept. of Motor Vehicles

If you are a associate of AA Automobile Club they may be able to help you. They offer some of the services that the DMV has. Usefulness luck!
