Insurance Should Cover Trainers And Gym Membership?
Jan 01, 2009 by # | Posted in Other - Health
An in poor weight causes so many heath issues, why isn't a trainer or gym membership cover by insurance? Why do doctors release people to lose weight, then never tell them how? Do you think it should be covered or not?
Yes, it should be covered. I come up with that if insurance companies started to cover gym memberships they would have to pay out less for diseases caused by paunchiness. My insurance company will pay out $100 per year for either toward a gym membership, a message, acupuncture treatment but only $100 per year per one of those listed. But, peradventure insurance companies are in it for the money and if we all got really healthy, they wouldn't make monied?
That's in point of fact a great idea. I think it should even if the doesn't tell them they need to let fly weight. I would love to go to the gym just to get healthier.

I am scuppered due to broken neck, I am not paralized just bad pain and messed up neck and back.
Not a gym membership, but medico therapy. I have a three level fusion in my neck, and other problems with my low back. I did the therapy for awhile, but found I could simulate the exercises at people's home. Instead of lifting weights, I use a large can of soup. The weight is comparable, and I can calling at my own pace. Walking helps alot, you wouldn't think it could support your neck, but it does. I try to walk daily, I cannot walk far, but if I take breaks and reasonable take my time, I can get a mile of walking done. Deep moist heat helps with hurt in the muscles. Rice socks are cheap to make, and work well. It gets blood circulating, which helps the muscles repair and stay strong. I take Methadone for pain management, with Vicodin confused in on the days when the pain is over the top. It's a frustrating condition, being relatively young and still unsound to be active. I'm sure you can relate to that, the mind wants to be out having fun and remembers the "respectable" days, while your neck and back say,"My god, have you not had enough!!!! The main sentiment I have learned from being in chronic severe pain, is you have to accept the hand you have been dealt, you can lift your life, but you are going to have to learn other ways to enjoy it. I can't do alot of the things I did in the olden times, but I can still enjoy life. Good luck to you.

Break of day,
DISABILITY WILL COVER MEDICARE PAYMENTS AND THROUGH MEDICARE YOUR PHYSICAL Psychotherapy WOULD BE COVERED. THIS WOULD NOT APPLY TO A STANDARD GYM. HAVE YOUR DR. PRESCRIBE PT THROUGH A LEGIT PT OFFICE.

Call the slews on your insurance card and ask them if this is a covered benefit. Also, some employers reimburse you money for gym memberships and other form-related services. Check with your human resources department.

The only policies I recall of that cover exercise memberships are all Medicare Advantage plans. They have something called "Lustrous Sneakers". Very popular with some seniors.
Generally though, health insurance policies only act "medically necessary" procedures and treatments.

A Consumer's Guide To Health Reform

Now that the Senate has passed a intensively debated health care bill, Congress is headed to the next up: House of Representatives-Senate negotiations in January to hammer out a definitive version. Given the Senate's difficulty in passing a bill, the ultimate legislation is likely to tilt strongly toward that chamber's interpretation. Here's where things stand and how you might be affected.
What are the biggest disputes?
There are scores of disagreements, but the biggest battles will assault over how the legislation would be paid for, whether to include a government-run insurance plan and how much to assign on subsidies to help lower- and middle-income Americans furnish insurance.
Abortion remains perhaps the thorniest issue. The Senate bill would add insurance plans that operate in newly created exchanges, or marketplaces, to put up abortion coverage, but enrollees would have to write separate checks for it. The Domicile bill has even tighter language: Insurers in the exchanges that accept federal subsidies - which is undoubtedly to be most if not all of them - couldn't provide abortion coverage at all.
