Is It A Normal Procedure For A Loan Comapny To Ask For An Insurance Premium To Secure A Loan?
Jun 21, 2007 by kjohnson622003 | Posted in Insurance
I have been applying for a loan, I have noticed that some companies are asking for an insurance premium to procure my loan. The premium is quite substantial, antwhere from $700 - $1000
As a rule only the online scammers are asking for these. Reputable lenders don't require an insurance premium upfront. Don't snarl up with credit life or owner's insurance; scammers want a premium to "evident" a rate or a loan approval. Scammers; check them with BBB.

They will all ask for that info before the contract is closed. It's required.

You must be using online companies. Ive never heard of it. But then again I have only been doing mortgages for 15 years. Most states be missing that if you have to pay any upfront money they have to describe exactly what its for and it has to be refundable if not used.
I agree with the other advertisement its a scam. Call a few local mortgage companies. They will tell you the same.

in some states or provinces it is requisite

I simulate it is "credit life" insurance. A lot of lenders want you to get it (they get a share onthe premium) but in some states it is illegal to make it a requirement for a loan.
It is also overpriced, commonly you can get simple term life insurance for less money and more coverage.

Is The 1.75% Mortgage Insurance Premium (FHA Loan) Up Front Payment Tax Deductible In The Tax Year Its Paid?
Oct 26, 2009 by BigBanski | Posted in Other - Taxes
I fulfil that the monthly MI payments are only deductible if AGI is under $100,000 a year. In addition to the monthly, the FHA loan requires a premium to be paid- ie: 1.75% of the loan amount. Would that whole amount be able to be deducted as part of closing costs like points, nickname fees, etc?
The purpose of this loan is a re-fi, and it will be re-financed in 2009
Your insurance premium that you are paying on your mortgage is deductible. It is listed on the Outline A.
Instant Tax Service | Oct 26, 2009
When did you buy the parliament? The itemized deduction for the premium is only deductible if you recently bought the house. See 1040 instructions for book A.
Since you appear to have paid a lump sum, you must prorate it over the life of the loan.
