Unemployment Insurance Pay For Nursing Schooling?

My woman got laid off from a company she was at 5 years. She would really like to get into nursing but with 2 kids and a mortgage we dont exceptionally have the money it would cost to go or the time if unemployment benefits ran out while going because she would have to find another job because we want her income.
Ive heard that unemployment insurance would pay for certain approved schooling programs. Is nursing covered?

There is the WIA (Workforce Investment Act) program that will forbear pay for schooling. Have her inquire about this at her unemployment office. Most likely they will not pay for all of nursing school but they will pay for other apart from-term programs (i.e. Patient Care Technician, CNA, Phlebotomy, EKG, etc.). WIA will pay for one assuredly of study one time only. If your wife already has all of the prerequisites to get into nursing school, maybe WIA will pay. I distinguish they would pay for the LPN program, but only if she's ready to start the program. The WIA program does not binding prerequisites that are needed to gain entry into a program. That kinda sucks, but that's the way it is. I am in the medial of working with WIA so this is up-to-date info. By the way, I am in Chicago, but I assume it will work the same way in your stately since it is a Federally funded program. Good luck!

LVN or a community college RN (2+year) is attractive inexpensive considering all things. You would have to check about unemployment insurance with the correct means.

One of the conditions of collecting unemployment benefits is to go on looking for work. Another condition is to get retrained in another field that offer more job openings.

As to whether unemployment will pay for the training or not is something you will have to take up with your governmental's unemployment office. Different states offer different benefits through unemployment.

However, President Bush passed legislation allowing for a 13 week lengthening on unemployment benefits once and individual has exhausted their benefits. You can not apply for the stretch until your benefits have been exhausted and it applies to individuals who first filed for unemployment benefits in May of 2006 or after. The program is required to stay in effect until March of 2009.

With this new legislation in place, I would have your wife conjunction your local unemployment office and ask if this training is something that they would consider paying for before her benefits expel. If they do cover this type of training, then you will still have the unemployment benefits she is receiving until they conclude and then an additional 13 weeks of benefits.

Hope this information has been considerate.

Best wishes.

Most undoubtedly not. I would talk to your PO, they might be able to help you. But unless there is a some criminal rehabilitation program you won't be getting a job in the medical hockey any time soon. Mainly because of the access to drugs...Maybe a CNA job.

That is a honest tough one. Most places are really picky when it comes to applicants with felony convictions. Some will aside you to explain your charges while others will pretty much put your application in the back burner. I would say to embrocate at a health insurance related company like AmerGroup, Aeitna, BC/BS, but with your information, it could be a hit or miss.

What I would do is contact your local state's board of nursing and see what they say.

A victim of its own success? Seniors who want the government out of health ...

WASHINGTON — At age 74, Joanne Germano of Bedford Heights knows all about the benefits of retirement -- Community Security, Medicare, Medicaid for nursing home patients whose savings run out. A former nursing people's home employee, she's glad Medicaid keeps seniors from being dumped on the high road.

And yet Germano says, "I don't think the government belongs in vigour care."

Call it a contradiction or a widespread dichotomy. The government is already tangled in the care of seniors, be they supporters of President Barack Obama or, like Germano, voters who would have preferred to see Sen. John McCain in the Undefiled House.

Last year alone, the government picked up the tab for 54,000 nursing well-informed in patients, most of them seniors, in Ohio. Most were not considered poor in the usual sense and were not looking for a handout or fast dollar.

They solely happened to need full-time nursing home care, which can clearly run $75,000 or more a year. That's why 65 percent of "in-patient days" at nursing homes, as the articulate measures it, are paid by taxpayers, according to the state Segment of Jobs and Family Services, which administers Medicaid.
