I am a Canadian taxpayer living in the US.
Yes. I lived in India for a few years due to toil and while there we had two children. We applied for SIN numbers for both of them while living out of the country.
My old lady is from Canada, she has SIN (Social Insurance Number), can she use that number as her SSN when applying for credit behave, etc?

No, have her put down on the operation that she is from Canada and that she doesn't have an SSN.
No.
What? Your mate needs to get a SSAN from the US Social Security Administration.
No, her SIN would not be fitting in the United States and wouldn't be recognized as valid as she is not connected to that total in the Social Security database.
When you give your SIN total to an employer, what can they find out about you? Your employment history? How much tax you paid each year?

The tax bumf and employment history are supposed to be confidential
In these days of Internet there is not a wonderful deal that a determined person cannot dig out. I suppose the question you should be asking is are you bondable. If you are not, see what can be done to set right that situation Other than that the human resources department has a lot of confidential information. Do not nettle about it.
Depending on your fix your employer can also pull your credit rating. My wife does disconcerted business credit, and she's required to maintain a R2 credit rating as a acclimate of employment.
Reason being there a lot of bankers who were taking kickbacks in exchange for loans, so the bank has been dispiriting to weed them out.
IF you indication an agreement allowing it, your employer can pull your credit report. That application should only come if you are applying for a job in a position of trust (banks, working as an accountant, etc)
Other than that, there should be NOTHING they should legally be skilled to find out. Whether there is black market information depends on how loose you have been with your SIN. Remember, your SIN is only required for tax common transactions. You have to provide it for a job, you have to provide it to banks for your RRSP etc. But nobody else has a legal integrity to your SIN. Many other companies will ask for it, because it lets them track you, but they can't require it. Of course, they can refuse to give you credit if you don't (a point of conflict, in my opinion). Anyone who asks for your SIN, make unwavering there is nothing in the agreement that allows them to share the info, even with 'affiliated companies'. NEVER give it to fly by ceaselessly companies or individuals. Health care: The culture war intervenesHere's what I hate about what's growing on in the Senate today: Senators are having a(nother) red-hot consideration over abortion. They're discussing whether or not abortions should be funded under health coverage the Senate bill would tender. I hate this because here is yet another debate where abortion threatens to take all the oxygen out of the lodgings. Sure, I recognize that abortion is important. And I know that it must be discussed to learn whether federal subsidies can help pay for an insurance plan that offers abortion as a serve. But let's face it: Taking such time out to debate abortion, an topic that causes deep divisions, risks poisoning the larger healthiness care discussion. It's like when my denomination debates whether or not gay clergy can be ordained. It dominates everything. And the genuineness is, abortion as a health care worry is tiny compared to the more exacting problems of how we cover more people, how we pay for their coverage and how we control healthiness costs. u Directory
