How Can I Become An Insurance Agent In Orlando?

I currently own my own car dealership and I'm contemplative in becoming an auto insurance because I think it would be beneficial for my business. Now I don't have any idea how the insurance industry works. Can someone give me an sentiment of how I need to start and where I need to go if I want to be an auto insurance agent in orlando, FL?

Well, you start at the FL rely on of insurance website. You have to take a test, and pass it. If/when you pass, you can ask a company to let you sell their insurance. They'll be looking for a committment of at least $100,000 a year, in stock. You'll have to show which staff members will be dedicated to servicing the book of business.

It's Angry to get the appointment.

Also, in your case, it's possible that the office for the insurance, would have to be at a seperate address tracking down than the car dealership - I can see you having legal issues, if you ONLY write for people you barter cars to. I can ALSO see you having legal issues, if you REQUIRE, or the purchasers notion of you are requiring, that they buy the insurance through YOU.

That's gonna be hard, with no experience in Property/casualty insurance.

You'll have to have training, be licensed, and appointed by a establishment. That's the difficult part.

If you go to work for an agency, you can get the training, and maybe the agent will assign you to sell insurance at your dealership.

Go to a local independent agency in town. You in all probability know of some, and discuss your plans with him/her.

I was an insurance legate at one time and had no success with it. The first step would be to evaluate if this is the right opportunity for you. You will have to approach face to face and even go door to door at times. I was not comfortable with this, principally since it is all commission based and I had to pay for childcare.

I now work for a health care disregard company and wish I had of found them before spending hundreds of dollars on getting licensed, buying new clothes, paying for childcare etc since it is to the quick based! I call all clients (who request information so no cold calling) from dwelling and do all business on the internet!

Good luck!

Independent Agents: Keep Them or Dump Them?

Insurance Experts' Forum, November 23, 2009

Anyone who knows me is well posted that I don’t shy away from controversy (quite the opposite, in really), so when I brought together my annual panel for the recent ISOTech bull session in Orlando, it was no surprise that some fireworks were seen.

One of the more incendiary issues grew out of an analyst dispatch I saw last year that basically recommended to carriers that they automate their sales purpose and stop using independent agents. Ironically, the same analyst said carriers should do all they can to compel sure their automated systems mimicked the live instrument experience in any way possible.

On our panel, Oracle Insurance ’s Chuck Johnston, VP, blueprint and alliances, had the temerity to point out that, truth be told, insurance could be sold (and is being sold) without the aside from agent. This immediately precipitated an impassioned defense of the spokesperson from Cal Durland, program manager and AUGIE facilitator for AUGIE (whose hoard just happens to be an independent agent). Ms. Durland incisive out (and rightly so) that the independent agent has been the backbone of the insurance experience, and that the bloke relationships cultivated by those agents are the glue that holds the sales alter together.
