Can I Buy Only Major Medical Insurance For My Horse? |
May 02, 2008 by Nikki | Posted in Horses
I necessity to purchase an insurance policy for my 8 yr old American Warmblood gelding. I only want major medical/surgical and downfall of use, not mortality insurance. Does any one know any good policies in the USA? My gelding is habituated to for low level hunters and is valued b/t 15 and 20k. Any insurance company recommendations would alleviate as I am lost on this one. Also, what are your experiences with insurance companies? are there any to avoid, and how would I be sure one is reputable. Thanks!!
Hi Nikki,
Horse insurance that you are describing can be very costly and most that I have researched are altogether limited in scope. And while you are not intested in mortality insurance, my only experience was with that type, and I well-grounded to regret doing that.
One must thoroughly research each company and their requirements to problem a policy. You have some good links already to do that, but each carrier covers different things, with a far-reaching variety of coverage. In addition, the horse must have a thorough veterinary exam, and if any unseen conditions emerge, they may be deemed uninsurable.
My veterinarian suggested, when I was making allowance for renewal on an older horse, was to put money aside each month to substitute any routine care. Once a horse develops certain conditions, that fact condition is generally excluded upon renewal. I followed his sage view. While one may not be able to raise the huge amount of money that some surgeries may require, it can be a somersault of the dice if a horse does become injured or ill which requires catastropic veterinary be responsible for. It is a quandry for sure.
For some interesting information from two insurance carriers that describe the types of coverage that they proffer,
here are two additional links for you.

The man Friday one really talks about the types and the conditions not covered, and what to expect.
You could also talk to your veterinarian about your interest in purchasing insurance. He/she may have some believable insights and advice for you. Equine vets should be able to suggest companies with whom they have had knowledge and trust.
Hope this helps!

Is Full Major Medical Insurance Available For An Individual In California With Type 2 Diabetes? Carrier Names? |
Apr 01, 2008 by DMinLV | Posted in Insurance
I have called several insurance companies and cannot procure coverage because of existing diabetes condition. Similar to "assigned jeopardize" for an auto driver, is there such full, major coverage available? How do I go about finding the coverage? I have recently retired and my Cobra will terminate soon. Is there any extension of Cobra available in California?
Try AmeriPlan they truly have a great diabetic plan and it is cheap!

COBRA is a highest of 18 months in CA. Every insurance company will have a pre-existing conditions clause. You will have to justifiable find one with the shortest waiting period.

Nope. Your best bib bet is going to be the California High Risk Health Pool. You have to glue, I *think* you have to be uninsured for 12 months prior, and there's a huge waiting record. Plus, there's a $450 deductible, and up to 25% copay for some services, and a three month waiting while for preexisting conditions.
That's not a best bet, that's an ONLY bet. NO ONE is going to take on a diabetic, in a private arrangement, and cover the diabetes.

That's why people don't take to one's bed until they are 65, and eligible for Medicare.

In actuality...yes.
In California there are a number of options, even after COBRA has run out. Specifically, you can apply for the Cal COBRA extention, content your coverage can go from 18 month to 36 months. Your premiums will growth by approximately 8%, but the option will still be there. After that, depending on the specifics of your circumstances, you can look into a HIPAA Conversion script, or MRMIB.
Otherwise it is unlikely. With that kind of pre-ex, pretty much anyone will refuse to cover you on an peculiar plan. Your best bet, outside of the above listed plans, will be to secure insurance through an boss, if that is still possible for you to do.

Need Advice On Good Medical Insurance Company? |
Sep 26, 2006 by MARK | Posted in Insurance
Imperfect to purchase medical insurance for a family member. Looking for a very good company who could equip major medical insurance with at least a $2,500.00 deductible. Just mainly looking for some basic coverage. Sometimes non-standard due to you for whatever advice you can give me.
Morose Cross Blue Shield. You could count on them paying the claims and they are a eleemosynary insurance company, not some fly by night company that would collect your money and never pay.

For an specific plan, try Assurant Group.
They are one of the largest individual medical companies in America.
They have a net discourteous term medical policy that is relatively reasonable.

I would vouch for going to the department of insurance in your state, look at the companies and also ratings of each company. Many companies throughout Connected States are merging as the larger companies like WellPoint (blue fractious) and United Health are currently acquiring smaller health insurance co's. So if you buy from a smaller South African private limited company today, tomorrow you might have the larger company anyway. Also, contact your physicians establishment and ask your provider who they would recommend- ultimately they are the ones who matter as they will be billing the insurance friends you pick.

Senate Republicans on Saturday sought to spreading the pressure on Democrats over a new actuarial report suggesting that major salubriousness care legislation would increase national spending on medical heedfulness rather than lower costs. At a news conference, the Republican chief, Senator Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, focused regard on the internal disagreements among Democrats that remain an obstacle to them pulling together the 60 votes needed to approve the mass.
