Oxendine to insurers: Obey the law when it comes to mammogramsATLANTA – Structure Insurance Commissioner John Oxendine last week sent a warning correspondence literature to insurers reinforcing state law when it comes to covering mammogram screenings for soul cancer. Oxendine’s letter comes on the heels of a federal recriminate force’s recommendation that most women in their 40s do not need mammograms. The U.S. Anticipative Services Task Force, a government panel comprised of doctors and scientists, also said women should only get them every two years starting at age 50, which reversed the American Cancer Intercourse’s long-standing position that women should pull down annual mammograms starting once they are 40 years old. “I presume insurers to abide by the policy contracts they currently have filed with my bit,” Oxendine said in a news release. “Some insurers may use these new recommendations as an reason to reduce the benefits they offer – this would be totally inappropriate. I would remind each insurer that any coverage change would need to be filed with my help and I will not approve such reductions.” y Directory
