Whats The Difference Between A Premium, Standard And PPO Health Insurance Coverage?
Sep 07, 2007 by Sylvia H | Posted in Insurance
scarce as hen's teeth cost is $130, standard is $120, PPO is $303 a mo.
annual out of cavity on premium is 3000 family, PPO is 4000 family, lifetime max is none on high-priced and unlimited on PPO...I don't understand the difference because everything else is pretty much the same...the premium has lower complete costs or no charge and lower co-pays...why? and it costs less per month than the PPO?
Dear, this is an extremely loaded question! I processed health insurance claims for CIGNA healthcare for two years, and I can command you that although they all "look" the same, they are probably all very different.
First, your major responsibility is whether or not any of them are managed healthcare (HMO). It is a horrible form of healthinsurance and all of the class motion lawsuits against it will back me up.
Additionally, are you looking at what kinds of benefits are handled by third fete vendors. This is sometimes called "carving out" or repricing benefits for things like: materialization, dental, labs, x-rays, and the BIG ONE! mental health.
Moreover, you need to see what kinds of providers allow these different kinds of insurances. Are there contracted providers? Contracted providers have to take what they get from your insurance and then call it quits; they cant come to a decision to come after you for the balance. (If they do, thats called balance billing and could charge them big time.) If they dont have any/many contracted providers, then whoever you see can chose whether or not to balance bill you.
If you have unambiguous questions and want to contact me, please feel free. It is important that you obtain healthcare that is going to be there for you when you need it, and try to minimize buying something that you dont distress, all at the same time.

Can I Use My Employer's PPO Insurance Benefit As Secondary Coverage To A Personal HDHP/HSA Plan That I Fund?
Nov 11, 2007 by welldread | Posted in Insurance
I wish for to start an HDHP/HSA plan but I can't stand the idea that I will essentially have to give up my self-governing PPO benefit from my employer to do it. Is there a way to have both coverages is my question?
You CANNOT supply add to to the HSA for any month for which you had the PPO if the PPO is not also an HDHP. There is a federal law that you can contribute to an HSA for ONLY those months for which your ONLY health insurance was HDHP's.
You can have both the HDHP and the PPO, but you would pay the premiums for the HDHP and might not be paid any more (combined) benefit than you currently receive from the free PPO alone AND you would not be eligible to present to the HSA.

~~Medical insurance premiums can alternate by which state you live in.
A PPO plan with good coverage is going to be a higher dear than say a major medical plan where you might have a high annual deductible, but a much farther down monthly premium.
What you have to remember is the advantage of using a major bearer like Blue Shield who offers many plan options and premiums is that you get a mammoth contracted rate with any provider you see. This rate can sometimes be lower than a higher monthly reward plan's copay.
Best advice is to seek an agent who handles the larger, well known companies. An spokesman can help you pick the option best suited to your needs.~~
